Attingham Park in spotlight at social

Don’t miss our next branch social on Wednesday 21 January, when members of Attingham Park’s community volunteering team will be telling us all about their social prescribing Walks and Talks—and we’re all invited to go along for free in June.
The walks take place at Attingham Park and are led by one of their volunteers, who will create a relaxed environment so you can chat as much or as little as you wish. These walks are a great opportunity to experience nature and get outdoors. The route is varied each week and there are stops along the way to admire the changing of the seasons. All-terrain mobility scooters are available for those who need them.
The Walks and Talks are held at 2pm every Wednesday and Thursday, and we’ll be trying one out for free at our branch social in June. For more details on the walks, email join-in-Attingham@nationaltrust.org.uk.
Anyone for tennis?
There will be an extra session of walking tennis this Friday, 9 January, and then again on the 16th. Sessions have been shortened to 1.5 hours, running from 10.30am—12pm.
The sessions are usually held on the first and third Friday of each month, but to accommodate instructor Ellie's holiday, just for this January they will take place on the second and third Friday of the month.
Talk on BeechBand

Carl Beech will be showcasing his BeechBand at our branch social on 18 February.
The device aims to ease Parkinson’s symptoms using a tapping mechanism. Further information is available at beechband.com.
Food for thought at fun Christmas meal
Branch chair Maggie Connell writes:
On 17 December, Shrewsbury Parkinson's members met in the Beaconsfield Club for a very delicious Christmas lunch. We started the occasion with one of Barbara Branch's fiendishly difficult quizzes which everyone split into two large teams to undertake.

After a good deal of laughter, mulled wine and a cracker, we were well on the way to enjoying the food which Chris and David added to tables already groaning with Christmas fare. Everyone agreed how much they'd enjoyed the lunch.

Then Christine and Albert organised a raffle and had the clever idea of wrapping the prizes in Christmas paper so no-one could be quite sure what they had won! A great way to start Christmas! I hope you all had a good New Year.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago. For over two years, I relied on Levodopa and several other medications, but unfortunately, the symptoms kept getting worse. The tremors became more noticeable, and my balance and mobility started to decline quickly. Last year, out of desperation and hope, I decided to try a herbal treatment program from NaturePath Herbal Clinic.
Honestly, I was skeptical at first, but within a few months of starting the treatment, I began to notice real changes. My movements became smoother, the tremors subsided, and I felt steadier on my feet. Incredibly, I also regained much of my energy and confidence. It’s been a life-changing experience I feel more like myself again, better than I’ve…
