Welcome

Welcome to the Shrewsbury Branch of Parkinson’s UK. We are a group of local people who have, care for, or know someone who is affected by Parkinson’s. The condition affects individuals differently.

At the early stages of diagnosis there can be a lot of anxiety and shock as we come to terms with Parkinson’s and we all need to have a safe place to be able to talk about it.

About Us

At our branch activities you will find a warm welcome and opportunities to talk to people about their experience of living with Parkinson’s.

As exercise pays such a huge part in maintaining mobility and balance we provide regular Physiotherapy group sessions along with Speech Therapy group sessions. The dates are listed on our events calendar.

We occasionally organise activities away from our regular Branch meeting venue.

Our funds are raised through local initiatives, sponsored events, bequests and generous donations so that we can pay for these activities. A portion of our funds go to support the work of Parkinson’s UK for their ongoing research and studies. Donations are always welcome.

Our Social Meetings

Social Branch Meetings - please check dates on events calendar

On the 3rd Wednesday of the month 11am -12.15pm we hold our Branch get-together where we regularly have a speaker. Sometimes this is informative on health-related issues, some talks are of general interest and some just for fun.

We always enjoy a cup of tea/coffee, a cake, or a biscuit and have time to chat. Often we find that someone else is facing the same issue as ourselves and we can share ways of managing any challenges we may have.

Fancy trying table tennis for people with Parkinson’s? It’s very similar to ordinary table tennis, but we won't be playing doubles.

Shrewsbury Parkinson's are thrilled to announce that following the popular taster session, there will be a session (exclusive to us) held every other Monday morning starting Monday, 3 February, from 10am-12pm

There’s no need to book — just turn up. Friends and carers are welcome and there’s a cafe for anyone not playing.

Table Tennis sessions (which are FREE) will be held at:

Shrewsbury Sports Village,

Sundorne Road,

Shrewsbury

SY1 4RQ.

The Sports Village is wheelchair accessible and there is plenty of parking and nearby public transport.
